Five Marshall clubs are teaming up to hold a food drive as part of the “Celebrate Community” program.

The goal of the project is to promote teamwork among the service groups and to combine resources to address key community issues.

The five Marshall groups, including the Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, Marshall Optimist, and Marshall Mid-Day Optimist, have been meeting since January to plan and coordinate the food drive for the Community Food Pantry in Marshall. The drive will begin on September 8, and items will be collected until October 8. Mary Ann Gilpin says there will be collection boxes placed in several local businesses in Marshall.

Some of the items that will be collected include peanut butter and jelly, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, pasta, rice, paper towels, and toilet paper. The items will be collected from these boxes and taken to the Community Food Pantry, located at 165 West Morgan in Marshall.

The five clubs will also be meeting with Marshall High School students on September 10th to inform them about each organization and what service projects they are working on.

Anyone seeking more information about the food drive can contact Gilpin at 660-631-5151.
