The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced the closure date of a bridge north of Mendon set for replacement this fall.

The Route CC bridge over Yellow Creek, just north of Mendon in Chariton County, will close Sept. 15. Crews with Capital Paving are scheduled to take three months to replace the 71-year-old bridge. The current bridge presently handles about 242 vehicles per day and is among 31 bridges in North Central Missouri rated in poor condition that are set for replacement or rehabilitation.

It’s the latest project in the Northwest Bridge Bundle that is addressing those bridges over a two-year span. Crews began work this week on the new Route PP bridge over the Middle Fork of the Little Chariton River east of Salisbury, and will replace the Route KK bridge over Puzzle Creek later this fall.

The complete list of bridges in the Northwest Bridge Bundle, as well as a progress tracker, is posted on MoDOT’s website.
