Swift says he recently spoke to Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, District 51 Representative Mark Nolte, and Congressman Mark Alford about securing funding for MSDC’s childcare efforts. Swift notes that Saline County is one of 98 counties across the state to to be considered “childcare deserts.”
.
Swift says he’s been made aware of several grants at the state level that could aid with the project. Swift says Alford plans to make a trip to Saline County to check out some of the other projects MSDC is tackling.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the board reviewed three bids for erosion control work at one of MSDC’s lots in the industrial part of town. Swift says the board decided to table the bids after seeing how different each of them were.
The board is planning to send out a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from area engineers to help develop a plan for the lot.
