A Warrensburg woman suffered serious injuries after her vehicle left a Johnson County roadway Thursday, Sept. 11.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 33-year-old woman was driving east on Route Y, about three miles south of Warrensburg, when at around 2:45 p.m., she swerved to avoid striking an animal near the intersection of SE 171st Road. Her vehicle went off the right side of the road, causing her to overcorrect. The vehicle then went off the left side of the road, overturning and striking a tree. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Troopers say she was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
