
The Slater City Council announced that the city has been awarded a grant for Phase 7 of its sidewalk enhancement project during its meeting Tuesday, September 16.
The council announced that the city was awarded a 2025 Transportation Alternatives Program grant totaling $330,793, which covers 80 percent of the total project cost. This particular phase of the project will focus on improvements on Clyde Street. The grant program has awarded more than $14 million statewide.
In other news, the council reviewed bids for demolition at property on 220 East Emma Street and 843 Heiler Street. The council accepted the low bid from Mark Heilman in the amount of $12,250 for the work.
During his report, Mayor Terry Jordan said the Saline County Sheriff’s office has reported 194 calls for service, as well as 23 reports, 38 traffic stops, and 16 citations. Jordan also reported that the number of electronic scooters being reported on city sidewalks has decreased since the council’s last meeting.
