A two-vehicle crash in western Pettis County on Thursday, Sept. 18 claimed the life of an Oak Grove woman.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 81-year-old woman failed to stop her sedan at a stop sign at about 3:20 p.m. and drove into the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 at Chevalier Road, two miles east of La Monte. Her vehicle drove into the path of a pickup driven by a 29-year-old man from Warsaw, and was struck in the driver’s side. The sedan then ran off the roadway into the median, while the pickup went off the right side of the road. The Oak Grove woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported for the Warsaw man; troopers say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
