The Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney’s office says a suspect is in custody, believed to be connected to the Monday, Sept. 22 shooting in Versailles.

The office announced on social media early Tuesday morning that a suspect was arrested Monday afternoon in neighboring Miller County. The arrest comes nearly 12 hours after Versailles police first responded to a call of a reported shooting on the 100 block of South Burke, where officers found a woman unconscious with an injury to her head. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Police believe the incident was of a personal nature. The suspect’s name has not been released, as charges are still pending. Versailles Police has called upon the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad to assist with the investigation, and encourages anyone with information or video footage to contact the Versailles Police Department at 573-539-2580.
