The Chariton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting incident reported Tuesday afternoon in Brunswick.

According to the Sheriff’s office, Chariton County 911 dispatched deputies to a reported shooting in the 200 block of North Wood Street in Brunswick at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, responding units located an individual with an apparent gunshot wound to the thigh. The victim was transported to a hospital in Columbia for medical treatment. One individual was detained at the scene and transported to the Chariton County Sheriff’s Department for questioning.

The Chariton County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Brunswick Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Chariton County Ambulance District, and other first responders. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
