The 45th Annual Brunswick Pecan Festival gets underway with a full schedule of events beginning Friday night.
The city, which is the official Pecan Capital of Missouri, hosts the festival each year to offer visitors a weekend of food, fun, and shopping in downtown Brunswick. Jeb Stephenson says the events serves as a homecoming for those who grew up in Brunswick.
The action begins Friday evening with a car cruise at 5 p.m. and the Nutty Parade at 6:30. The Floozie Contest will be held later at 9 p.m.
The festival will continue on Saturday with a pecan pie contest and auction, a baby contest, and free activities like a petting zoo and rock climbing. The main event will be Saturday’s parade, which begins at 2 p.m. Stephenson details the parade route through the city.
Multiple food and market vendors will be lined up in downtown Brunswick throughout the weekend. A full schedule of events can be found on the festival’s Facebook page.
