The Carrollton Town Council agreed Monday, Oct. 6 to deem a house on East Third Street as a dangerous building.
The council took the action after a public hearing that opened their meeting Monday night. Mayor Keith Higgins says the owner of a house on the 300 block of East Third did not show up to present comment at the hearing. Higgins says the council voted to approve the designation and will continue through the process of addressing the nuisance.
The town council also reviewed two bids for demolition work on the 900 block of South Main. Higgins reports that Ed Warren & Son offered to bring the structure down at no cost to the town, with the council accepted. The council also approved a change in Carrollton’s ordinance concerning solid waste pickup, striking language that said that the town would provide trash containers. Higgins notes that the town had not been doing so for some time.
Two requests also received approval from the council Monday night. The Carroll County Livestock Leaders received approval for their request to build new restrooms at Walnut Hills Park. Higgins says the group has received enough donations to cover the cost of the new structure. The town council also approved a street closure for an Oktoberfest this Saturday afternoon from 3 to 8 p.m.
