
The Moberly Fire Department was awarded a grant to purchase a fire safety trailer for educational and training purposes.
The Moberly City Council passed a resolution during its Monday night meeting to authorize the department to accept the grant. The department was awarded $218,665 to purchase the trailer, requiring a five percent match. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the trailer will aid the Fire Department when it visits area schools and businesses.
McGarvey the trailer will be about 27 feet long and feature several interactive demonstrations to help with training.
In other news, the council approved the reappointment of Robert Dutton to the Fire Prevention Board of Appeals.
The Moberly City Council will next meet on Monday, October 20.
