Develop Saline County met Wednesday morning to distribute funds generated from the county’s economic development tax in 2025.

Since 2019, almost $4.9 million has been distributed to the Saline County entities and cities. This includes the major cities and townships in the counties, as well as the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation, Sweet Springs Motorsports, and Saline County 4-H Shooting Sports.

The four major entities of Arrow Rock, Marshall, Slater, and Sweet Springs each received $116,681.81. The cities of Blackburn, Gilliam, and Miami all received $25,000. Grand Pass, Malta Bend, and Mount Leonard all received amounts that varied from $2,000 to $7,600. The city of Nelson did not receive any funding this year.

A total of $1,393,369.46 was generated from the economic development tax in 2025, up more than $223,000 from last year.

The Saline County Commission also provided an update on the Welcome Center project during the meeting. Commissioners report that work on the Welcome Center building and the wastewater treatment plant is progressing, and that both facilities are expected to be complete by June 1, 2026.

The board’s next meeting is tentatively scheduled for January 21, 2026.
