The Warrensburg Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of West Pine Street in response to an armed subject roaming the street.

According to the Warrensburg Police Department, officers arrived at 7:49 p.m. to the downtown business district after a male subject was reportedly brandishing a knife and running around the street. The reporting party told authorities that the subject had stolen their wallet as well.

Police located the subject after arriving to the scene and gave verbal commands, which the subject did not comply with. De-escalation attempts were unsuccessful and officers were forced to use a department issued taser to subdue the subject and take him into custody. The subject was then taken to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.

The male subject was found to be in possession of a lethal cutting instrument. Felony charges are being sought through the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing. KMMO will update this story when more information becomes available.
