
Larry R. Johnson, Sr., 87, of Mora, died Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln.
Born December 23, 1937 in Santa Rosa, California, he was the son of the late Russell Johnson and Yvonne Watkins Johnson. On December 15, 1955 in Lexington, Missouri, he married Kathryn Chuma, and she survives of the home.
Mr. Johnson was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel in Sedalia. He attended grade school in Golden, Missouri, and was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a meat cutter with Consumer’s Market in Sedalia until his retirement. He enjoyed studying History and was a Civil War enthusiast. He and his wife moved to Mora in 1972 from Kansas City.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael Johnson and his wife Naomi of Warrenton, Missouri, David Johnson and his wife Kathy of Cole Camp, and Mark Johnson and his wife Mimi of Sedalia; a daughter, Kathleen Friddle of Sedalia; six grandsons, Steven Johnson, Tony Johnson, Derek Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Sam Johnson; two granddaughters, Miranda Chenault, and Hannah Johnson; four great-granddaughters, Sofia, Clorice, Aliyah, and Juniper; and three great-grandsons, Trent, Ian, and Wilder. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry R. Johnson, Jr.; and two brothers, Woody Johnson and Fravell Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel, with Fr. Joe Corel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Steven Johnson, Tony Johnson, Derek Johnson, and Michael Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Johnson and Nicholas Johnson. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Benton County Hospice in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
