The Fayette Board of Aldermen delayed discussion last Tuesday, Oct. 14 on how to handle short-term rentals, after its developer instead submitted a request for a boutique hotel.

Fayette city administrator Deanna Cooper says aldermen agreed to delay a planned public hearing to a later date, recognizing that they will need to address rentals including Airbnbs at some point.

The issue became less immediate when the building’s owner submitted revised plans to instead convert the building into a boutique hotel, which city ordinances currently allow. Cooper says aldermen approved a business license.

Fayette aldermen also approved business licenses at last week’s board meeting for Concrete Concepts and Raymore Construction.
