The development and cultivation of a culture of learning was the major theme of Supt. Caleb Petet’s report to the Marshall Public Schools Board of Education at their Oct. 14 meeting.
Petet tells KMMO News that the need for faculty, staff and community members to aid in the growth of a positive culture came to light after an incident at the Homecoming game Oct. 10 against Fulton.
.
Discussion also focused on a float that drew questions from a number of attendees at the homecoming parade.
Petet also addressed attendance figures for the start of the school year, noting that Marshall’s total attendance was down 123 students from a year ago, at 2274. He identified chronic absences as a hurdle to overcome, not just for students.
Petet says the 15th Judicial Circuit is preparing to launch its truancy court for the year, with Judge Hugh Harvey expected to hear the cases.
