A Macon County man lost his life after the forklift he was a passenger on went off a county roadway and overturned.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Macon County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash Tuesday, Oct. 21 around 7:25 a.m. on Beechnut Street, three miles west of Ethel. According to the patrol, the forklift was heading east on the gravel road when it went off the north side, then overturned. A 21-year-old man from Ethel was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old man who was driving the forklift had no reported injuries.
