The Oak Grove Panthers rebounded from their first loss of the season to sweep Saxony Lutheran on Saturday, Nov. 9 in St Joseph.

The Panthers rolled the Crusaders in the first set 25-8, then held on for 25-22 wins in the other two sets. Piper Hudson led Oak Grove with 19 kills and four service aces, while Emery brown added 35 assists and 10 digs. The Panthers complete the season 36-1-1, dropping just six sets all season. Three of those sets were to Helias Catholic, who swept Mount Vernon for the Class Three title.

Also this week in St Joseph, Bismarck needed all five sets to defeat Winona for the Class One crown, while St Vincent of Perryville swept Hermann for the Class Two title.  St Michael the Archangel won Class Four over Festus St Pius X in four sets, and Lafayette of Wildwood locked up the Class Five title with a four-set win over Lee’s Summit North.

In boys’ soccer, the Marshall Owls will look to lock up the program’s third district title in four years when they take on Helias Catholic on Monday night for the Class Two, District Six championship. Kickoff from Knob Noster is at 6 p.m. Over the weekend, Lone Jack got past top-seed Barstow in the Class One, District Seven title game, winning 2-1 in Kansas City. The Mules will face either Faith Christian or Northland Christian in a quarterfinal tilt Saturday afternoon.
