KMMO will broadcast a pair of high school football quarterfinal contests this weekend.
Friday, Nov. 21, we’ll bring you the Class One quarterfinal from Salisbury, as the Panthers host Putnam County. Both teams are 11-0 and experiencing historic seasons, with the Panthers winning their first district title since 2012 and the Midgets going 19 years since their previous title. This game will air on KMMO-FM 102.9, with pregame at 6:40 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m. The winner of this game will achieve just their program’s second semifinal appearance, with Salisbury winning the Class 1A title in 1997, while Putnam County finished as runners-up in Class 2A to John Burroughs in 1989.
Most football quarterfinals contests will take place Saturday, Nov. 22, including the eight-man rematch between conference foes Concordia and Wellington-Napoleon. The two teams clashed in Week Nine in Concordia, with the Tigers getting past the Orioles 28-22 to win the I-70 division in the Central Rivers Conference. Saturday’s game will also take place in Concordia, with pregame at 12:40 p.m. and kickoff at 1 p.m. on KMMO-FM 102.9.
