The Pettis County R-5 School District Board of Education has announced the hiring of Justin Thomas as the next superintendent of the district.

Thomas will succeed current Superintendent Dr. Amy Fagg, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Thomas is a 2006 graduate of Northwest High School, and has spent the seven years as an administrator at the La Monte R-4 School District, serving the last four as the district’s Superintendent. He says he’s excited for the opportunity to return to the Pettis County R-5 community.

 

Thomas won’t begin his new role at Pettis County R-5 until July 1, 2026, but he already has a goal in mind for the district.

 

Thomas holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri and an education specialist degree from William Woods University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Saint Louis University.
