A former Pettis County Sheriff’s deputy stands accused of possessing and distributing child pornography.
40-year-old Jordan D Schutte was arrested Friday, Nov. 21 following an investigation by Sedalia Police and the Western Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children task force. According to the probable cause statement, a detective with the task force investigated a tip that identified Schutte as a suspect in the distribution of illicit videos through a social media messaging app. The detective said in the statement that a review of Schutte’s media history, provided by the app after receiving a search warrant, found at least one illicit video involving a boy between the ages of nine and 13, that the detective says was produced overseas. Schutte is accused of sharing the video privately to a number of contacts.
Schutte was employed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department until early 2021. In 2023, he settled a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the parents of Hannah Fizer, the Sedalia woman who was killed during a traffic stop in June 2020.
Schutte was scheduled for arraignment Monday morning on one count each of possessing child pornography and promoting child pornography. Because of his status as a former sheriff’s deputy, Schutte is being held in the Miller County Detention Center on $75,000 bond.
