The New Franklin R-I Board of Education turned their focus to improvements at the elementary school during their meeting last week.

Supt. Benji Dorson says the elementary boiler is the latest item to come up as part of the district’s bond projects.

Dorson says discussion will continue to determine the district’s approach to the boiler.

Also at Wednesday night’s meeting, the board went forward with renewing the Summer Journey Program for the district’s summer school curriculum in 2026.

The board also approved their calendar of assessment dates for the spring semester, and approved the inclusion of materials concerning organ and tissue donation in the high school’s health curriculum. Dorson noted that parents may opt their children out of the lesson.
