You might be giving thanks for clear conditions on your drive to Thursday’s Thanksgiving dinner, but the drive back this weekend could involve some wintry precipitation.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a storm system rolling through the area Friday and Saturday, which could involve snow just north of the KMMO listening area. Meteorologist Chris Bowman…
Bowman says that snow accumulation chances increase north of U.S. Route 36, with as much as two inches forecast for Kirksville. However, Bowman notes that the forecast presently shows a very low chance of ice accumulation in our area.
With additional traffic on the roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday, the Missouri Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to remain vigilant, buckle up, obey posted speed limits, and never drive impaired or distracted. MoDOT encourages anyone seeking to enjoy Thanksgiving with a drink or two to schedule a rideshare in advance, have a sober friend pick you up, or use public transportation where available.
Drivers can stay informed of road conditions and delays with the Traveler Information Map on MoDOT’s website.
