The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the Branson woman involved in a crash north of Pilot Grove on Thanksgiving morning died from her injuries, making her one of three fatalities recorded over the holiday weekend.

The 40-year-old woman was pronounced dead around 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27 at a Columbia hospital, where she had been taken after she was ejected from the vehicle she was driving that morning along Route 135 about a mile south of the intersection with Interstate 70. Troopers say she had not been wearing her seat belt when her vehicle went off the roadway, struck an embankment, and became airborne before overturning.

Two other accidents around the state this past weekend were fatal, one occurring along Interstate 29 in Atchison County on Thursday morning and the other in the St Louis suburb of O’Fallon, which occurred Friday afternoon and claimed the life of an 11-year-old.

In total, the Patrol responded to 304 crashes, where 82 total injuries occurred. They also recorded 87 arrests for driving while impaired. The preliminary totals indicate fewer fatalities, crashes and arrests than last year’s Thanksgiving reporting period.
