The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved a resolution to move forward with an electric cost of service and rate study during its meeting on Monday, November 24.
The board gave its approval to a resolution authorizing the expenditure for the study to be conducted by Allgeier, Martin, and Associates. Odessa Mayor Bryan Barner says the city hopes to lower business electric rates after this study.
The study will cost the city no more than $55,000.
In other news, the board appointed a new President of the Board after Acting President Donna Ehlert vacated her seat after moving out of the city. Barner says Ward 3 Alderman Bruce Whitsitt was selected as the board’s new president.
Ward 2 Alderman Mike Plachte was appointed to the Finance Committee to replace Ehlert.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 8th.
