A Sedalia man will spend the next two years behind bars after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a reported burglary just before Halloween.
While the burglary charge was dropped, 23-year-old Mario D Wilson entered guilty pleas Monday, Dec. 1 in Pettis County Circuit Court to a felony charge of tampering with a motor vehicle and misdemeanor harassment. Wilson was arrested the morning of Oct. 28 after a brief standoff with police in a home near the intersection of West 20th and Warren. A woman who had been in the house told police that Wilson had been seen in her backyard the night before wearing a “Scream” mask. Earlier in the day witnesses said they saw Wilson in a vehicle before discovering a key to that vehicle. Police say they discovered the mask as well as a bag of bullets and Wilson’s birth certificate in the vehicle.
Wilson has received a sentence of two years in state prison for the tampering charge and 180 days for the harassment. The sentences will be served concurrently.
