Moberly Joint Communications officially began dispatching fire calls for multiple Randolph County agencies on November 3, marking a major step toward a fully consolidated countywide dispatch system.

This transition builds on decades of progress, beginning in 1995 when an Enhanced 911 system was launched in Moberly. In 2003, the Randolph County Commission contracted with the City of Moberly to route county 911 calls through the Moberly system, making it the central answering point for all Randolph County 911 calls. Further agreements in 2019 and an update in 2023 between the City of Moberly, Randolph County, and the Randolph County Ambulance District (RCAD) laid the groundwork for creating a fully consolidated dispatch center.

Moberly Joint Communications now dispatches for the Westran Fire Protection District, Eastern Fire Protection District, Northeast Fire Protection District, Higbee Fire Protection District, Southeastern Fire Protection District, Moberly Fire Department, Moberly Police Department, and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

This transition is the first of a two-step process. Currently, medical calls are transferred to RCAD. By June 2026, Moberly Joint Communications will handle all 911 calls, eliminating transfers and creating a single, centralized dispatch center.

This change will save critical seconds in emergency response, improve efficiency, and streamline coordination among public safety agencies. Residents across Randolph County now have one non-emergency dispatch number: 660-263-0346. This number should be used for situations that are not life-threatening, including controlled burns, animal complaints, delayed incidents, follow-up conversations with officers, and requests for copies of reports.

For controlled burns specifically, callers should provide their name, the address where burning will occur, what is burning and how much, and a phone number where they can be reached during the burn. Callers must also notify dispatch when the burn is complete.
