concordia-2

The first reading Concordia’s new Sewer Usage Ordinance was passed by the Board of Aldermen and is now available for public review.

Aldermen approved the first reading of a bill repealing Section 710 of the city’s Municipal Code and replacing it with the new Sewerage usage Ordinance during its meeting Monday night. The ordinance sets regulations for pretreatment and industrial usage of Concordia sewer system. City Administrator Dale Klussman encourages residents to provide input on the ordinance before the board considers the second reading on December 15.

The board also adopted the city’s Enforcement Response Plan, which Klussman says is how the city will enforce the new Sewerage usage Ordinance.

The Enforcement Response Plan allows for incremental escalation of enforcement for noncompliance of IPP regulations.

In other news, the board welcomed and administered the Oath of Office to new Ward 1 Alderman Allan Hentges, who was appointed to fill the vacancy left after Kaleb Nierman was elevated to become the city’s Mayor earlier in November.
