The Mexico woman accused of attempting to defraud a Sedalia car dealer will spend the next two years in state prison after reaching a plea deal with Pettis County prosecutors.

40-year-old Patricia Harris agreed to the plea deal Monday, Dec. 1, admitting in court to filing false documents, forgery, and stealing a motor vehicle. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop charges of identity theft and trafficking in stolen identities. Harris was accused in late June of using the identity of an Oklahoma resident to co-sign on the purchase of a vehicle at a Sedalia dealership. She was also accused of submitting an altered driver’s license, fake address, and the victim’s date of birth while making the purchase.

Harris was sentenced to two years on each felony count, which she will serve concurrently in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
