Several years after completing the application, the City of Marshall has finally received a $2 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for storm water work along Boyd Street.

The announcement came during City Administrator JD Kehrman’s report at the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Tuesday, December 2. Kehrman notes the award process had been delayed due to the federal government shutdown.

Kehrman says the grant requires a local match of $410,000. Kehrman lists what the city’s next steps are.

In other news from Tuesday’s meeting, the council approved an amendment to the Code of Ordinances pertaining to the city’s snow routes. The city reminds the public to not leave vehicles parked along the routes as crews clear the roadways throughout the winter.
