Missouri students in grades K-12 are encouraged to decorate a trash can with the goal of reducing litter across the state.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will host its “NO MOre Trash!” contest over the winter, encouraging students to join the fight against litter by decorating a large trash can. Schools and home school programs may submit one entry in each competition category: grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Entries are judged based on creativity, adherence to contest rules, and effective use of the campaign’s logo and this year’s theme, “Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter-Free”.
First place winners in each category win their school $200, with the top overall entry picking up a $600 prize and trophy. Last year a group of students from Glasgow won the high school division with their design titled “River Recycle”. Participating schools have until March 13 to submit a completed entry form online. Details about the contest, including forms and contest rules, are available on MoDOT’s website.
