The Marceline City Council will open their meeting Wednesday, Dec. 10 with a public hearing to field comment on proposed utility rate increases.

The council is seeking a five-percent increase in the water and wastewater rates, as well as a base rate increase of $15 for electricity. Residents may also submit comments in writing ahead of Wednesday’s meeting. An ordinance for each proposed rate increase, as well as a resolution revising the master fee schedule, are on the agenda for the meeting to follow. Also Wednesday night, the council will consider bids for two projects at the East Ballfield, and a discussion on feed for fingerprinting and background check services.

The Marceline City Council will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the fire barn at the Public Safety Building on East Santa Fe.
