The Marshall Municipal Utilities considered a request to donate about 1,500,000 gallons of water to fill two lagoons at the Marshall Junction during its meeting Wednesday morning.

With the construction of the wastewater treatment plant at the Marshall Junction set to be complete in April 2026, the two lagoons at the junction will need to be filled with potable water from Saline County PWSD #3 before the plant can begin operating. The county’s engineer has estimated it will take about 1,500,000 gallons to fill both lagoons, and is asking on behalf of the county if the water can be donated.

The board decided to table any action on the measure until considering the impact this donation could have on MMU and its customers.

The Board of Public Works also approved a motion to reappoint General Manager Jeff Bergstrom to represent MMU on the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation Board effective January 1, 2026.
