The Green Ridge R-8 School District Board of Education approved the district’s calendar for the 2026-2027 school year during its meeting on Wednesday, December 17.

Superintendent Jonathan Petersen says the first day of school for 2026-2027 is starting much later than normal because of the Missouri State Fair.

 

Green Ridge operates on a four-day school week. Petersen did note that the district will have school on two extra days in December in order to preserve the full two-week Christmas break.

 

During a closed session, the board reviewed an opening for Elementary School Principal. The district is accepting applications until January 6th, and plans to conduct interviews on January 12th. Petersen says the board hopes to have a candidate selected by its next meeting on January 21st.
