A two-vehicle collision on westbound U.S. 50 the morning of Sunday, Dec. 28 claimed the life of a driver from the state of Georgia.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 21-year-old man failed to stop at a stop sign on Northwest 1501 Road at the intersection with westbound U.S. 50, about two miles west of Pittsville.  Troopers say at around 6 a.m., the sedan traveled into the path of an SUV driven by a 44-year-old Knob Noster woman, resulting in the collision. The Georgia driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Knob Noster driver refused treatment of her minor injuries.

The Patrol says this is the 77th fatal crash they’ve responded to in Troop A and 83rd fatality they’ve recorded in their 11-county area this year. Per their policy, the Patrol did not disclose the names of the drivers involved.
