The Fayette Board of Aldermen moved forward with an agreement for building inspections services while the city looks to bring its next building inspector on board.

The board formally approved an agreement with GBA during Tuesday’s meeting. City Administrator Deanna Cooper says GBA will be providing multiple services to the city, which includes helping Fayette find its next Building Inspector.

The City of Fayette has had a vacancy in its Department of Building Safety after firing its previous Building Inspector Tracy Read in December.

In other news, the board approved the purchase of a battery bank and rack for the DC power grid system in the amount of $49,900. Aldermen then appointed David Beach to serve as a second representative for the Howard County Regional Water District Board. The board also held a discussion about whether to include the Howard County Consolidated Water District #2 as a new member and purchasing customer to the Howard County Regional Water District. Cooper says Aldermen tabled any decision on this until the board’s next meeting on Tuesday, January 27th.
