Team members with Sedalia Public Works will be working at Spring Fork Lake to assist the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) with planned forestry management activities beginning next week.
This work is taking place under an existing agreement between the City and MDC. According to MDC, forested areas can become overcrowded as trees compete for limited sunlight, water, and nutrients. When this happens, overall forest health and growth can decline. Crews will addresses this next week by selectively thinning trees to give the healthiest and most desirable trees the space they need to grow.
Visitors to Spring Fork Lake may notice forestry equipment and activity in certain areas and are asked to remain clear of active work zones for safety.
