Patrons of the Brookfield R-III School District will also need to weigh in on the three seats available on the board of education this April.
At Tuesday night’s board meeting, Supt. Dr Eric Hoyt announced that five candidates had filed to run for the three-year terms up for grabs on the April 7 ballot. Two incumbents, Blake DeVoy and Dave Shaw, filed for re-election, along with three potential newcomers: Brittany Wessing, Nathan Stufflebean, and Phillip Sensenich. Samantha Howell did not file for another term. The board positions will appear alongside a proposed $4.2 million bond measure that, if passed by voters, will fund repairs and upgrades to the district’s track and field facility, HVAC systems, lockers, and elementary school playground.
Also Tuesday night, the board viewed a presentation on organ and tissue donation from “Learn Life Savers”. The board approved a two-year agreement to allow its inclusion in the district’s health curriculum. The board also accepted a letter of retirement from automotive teacher Andrew Matzen, effective at the end of the school year.
The Brookfield R-III School Board next meets Tuesday, Feb. 17.
