plea-agreement

A Sedalia teenager will spend the next 45 days in jail after reaching a plea deal with Pettis County prosecutors Thursday, Feb. 5.

18-year-old Brodie D Phillips was facing seven counts including assault and aggravated fleeing after Sedalia Police say he led law enforcement on a chase through the city last October on a dirt bike. According to a probable cause statement, the chase started at Vermont Park and included an instance where Phillips allegedly drove his bike at an officer who had attempted to stop him. After he was found and arrested, Phillips told law enforcement that his bike had mechanical issues and stalled, then denied driving at the officer.

The plea deal accepted Thursday in Pettis County Circuit Court saw the state drop all but one charge, a misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, which Phillips pleaded guilty to. As part of the agreement, Phillips will serve a 45-day sentence in county jail.
