The Saline County Commission approved new agreements with a number of agencies during their session Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Commissioners approved a new contract with the City of Slater for the county sheriff’s office to provide the city’s law enforcement services at $13,000 per month. Earlier in the session, emergency management director Brad Hinz provided an update on the development of the county’s new hazardous mitigation plan, and requested a resolution saying that the county has reviewed the plan ahead of its finalization by the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission. Commissioners adopted the resolution, which brings the plan once step closer to enacting the plan when it takes effect in January 2027.

Later in the meeting, commissioners approved a contract extending the services provided by the Missouri Department of Social Services. The three-year contract will continue utilizing the children’s division office in Boonville. Commissioners also provided a letter of support for upcoming bridge replacement projects along Interstate 70 over the Blackwater and Lamine rivers in western Cooper County.

A number of submitted bids for various supplies and services were approved by commissioners from these vendors:

  • Poppy’s Remodeling and Design ($52.50/hr)
  • Russell Pipe Sales
  • Russell Brothers Excavating
  • MFA Oil
  • IT Service Pros (for computing services at the Jail & Justice Center)
  • Con-Agg Rock
  • CTS Computing Services (for computing services at the Courthouse, five-year agreement)
  • BW Graphics (for financial statements, letterhead, and envelopes)
  • Viebrock Sales
  • BBL Auto Express (for sheriff’s patrol cars, also for snow removal and treatment at the Jail & Justice Center, courthouse, annex, and EMD)
  • FCS (Fischer Concrete Services)
  • Gerding, Korte and Chitwood
  • Green Printers (copy paper)

Three bids were deemed late and not accepted, those from Corpay for gas cards, J&B Developments LLC, and Green Printers.  However, part of Green’s bid was accepted by the commission.

Commissioners noted that because of required training later this month for the state’s county commissioners, their next regular session will take place Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m.
