A Randolph County woman was killed and her passenger seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision in Cairo the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 75-year-old woman from Jacksonville attempted to enter the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 63 from Route K around 7:25 p.m., when she pulled her car into the path of an SUV driven by a 56-year-old woman from Green Castle. The driver was taken to a Columbia hospital, where she died from her injuries about two hours later. Her 15-year-old passenger from Cairo was flown to Columbia for treatment of serious injuries. The Green Castle driver incurred minor injuries, while her 59-year-old passenger had moderate injuries.  Both were also taken to Columbia.
