A second collision along eastbound U.S. Route 50 just inside Johnson County on Thursday, Feb. 12 sent a Bates City man to the hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 70-year-old was driving his SUV east on Route 50 at around 3:10 p.m. when he struck the rear of a semi-truck that had stopped to turn right onto Charlie Street. The driver suffered moderate injury and was treated at a Kansas City area hospital. No injuries were reported for the truck driver.

The accident occurred three hours after another two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 50 in western Johnson County, which had occurred a mile-and-a-half to the east at the intersection with Route AA.
