A trooper that has served in the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop A since 2021 is receiving a promotion effective February 15th.

Trooper Derek R. Peters will be promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor for Zone 13, serving the citizens of Pettis County. Peters was appointed to the Patrol on February 1, 2021, as a member of the 111th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Zone 10, serving the citizens of Saline County, where he remained until his promotion.

Peters is a native of Jackson. He graduated from Jackson Senior High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, Peters attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia. He also served as a police officer for the city of Sedalia.
