Commissioners in Saline County adopted the county’s budget for fiscal year 2026 on Wednesday, Feb. 11, which totals $44,805,600.
During a dedicated budget hearing that followed Wednesday’s regular session, presiding commissioner Becky Plattner released the commission’s budget message, noting that the full budget was balanced, including general revenue and expenditures at $5,268,997. Within general revenue, the budget sets aside $300,000 for contingency reserves, $45,000 plus utilities and maintenance to University of Missouri Extension, $25,000 dues to the Marshall Saline Development Corporation, and $4000 dues to the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission.
Following Plattner’s statement, northern district commissioner Stephanie Gooden stressed that part of the Saline County Justice Facility’s budget of $3,447,211 was funded with $1.7 million from general revenue. Gooden noted the county’s use tax collections in 2025 that totaled $1,113,079.73 as a source of this contribution.
A brief opportunity for public comment prior to passage of the budget resulted in no comments offered by those in attendance.
