A federal court has sentenced a Sedalia man to more than three years behind bars after he admitted last year to attempting to rob a Kansas City bank.

The U.S. Attorney’s office for Western Missouri announced Thursday, Feb. 12 that a judge had sentenced 51-year-old Cleburn Bruce Greene to 37 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole, after Greene pleaded guilty in May to an October 2024 bank robbery. According to surveillance video and witness statements, Greene entered a bank in Kansas City, Mo. the morning of Oct. 1, 2024 with a note demanding money. After telling the teller that he was intending to rob the bank, he took the note back and left the bank without any money, throwing the note away in a nearby dumpster. The attorney’s office says that Greene was apprehended by KCPD that afternoon in a restaurant parking lot.
