The Marceline City Council approved a resolution submitting a loan application for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Clean Water State Revolving Fund during its meeting on Monday, February 16th.

The fund offers low-interest loans to communities for a wide range of wastewater infrastructure and non-point source pollution control projects, such as Marceline’s Sewer Plant project. City Manager Jesse Wallis says the fund could help the city save some money when borrowing to finance the project.

Loan amounts are issued on the basis of actual as-bid costs, with no set maximum.

In other action from Monday’s meeting, the council accepted bid from R&L Boone Construction for a replacement vertical turbine pump. Wallis says the council received five bids, but a few of them were for a different type of pump than what the city is currently using.

The council also adopted the Linn County Hazard Mitigation Plan and approved an update to its Public Comment Policy. The policy allows anyone attending a city council meeting to speak for a maximum of three minutes during the citizens participation portion of the agenda. Residents will need to sign up before the meeting to speak. This policy update is being implemented at all future meetings, including the council’s next session on Thursday, March 12th.
