jail-time-1-17-21

The case against an Odessa man accused of multiple sex crimes involving minors will have his trial moved to Saline County.

The request by attorneys for 34-year-old Patrick William Riley III to have his case moved from Lafayette County was granted last week. Riley was indicted by a grand jury in November on five charges, the most serious of them sexual misconduct involving a child under 15. According to the indictment, Riley is accused of coercing a girl into exposing herself, and harassing four underage victims last July by asking them repeatedly for illicit images. Additional charges were filed in December by Lafayette County prosecutors, accusing Riley of having in his possession last August at least 100 images of child pornography, including images generated by artificial intelligence. Riley faces ten felony charges in total.

Riley is now held in the Saline County Jail, with bond previously set at $100,000 cash-only. His next hearing is set for the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 23.
