The New Franklin R-1 Board of Education selected Porter, Berendzen & Associates for architecture work on the district’s kitchen remodel project during its meeting Wednesday evening.

The board sent out the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) during its last meeting on January 21st. Superintendent Benji Dorson says New Franklin R-1 has worked with PBA-Architecture several times before.

 

Dorson says the district plans to meet with the architects on-site next week to determine the scope of the project and negotiate a contract. The project is being funded by a $2 million bond that was approved several years ago.

In other news, the board voted to join the Ozark Schools Benefits Association (OSBA) consortium after the district’s current insurance consortium dissolved.

 

The Board of Education also discussed the 2026-2027 salary schedule, but tabled any action until its next meeting on Wednesday, March 18th.
