
Sales and use tax collections at the start of 2026 in Saline County were sharply higher, according to monthly figures from the county treasurer’s office and Missouri Department of Revenue.
According to figures compiled by treasurer Jared Brewer, Saline County collected $129,357.60 in sales tax revenue during January, which was remitted to the county in early February. That’s a 16 percent increase from the previous month and 8.5 percent better than the same month a year ago. Similar improvements were also reported for the economic development and law enforcement sales taxes.
Use tax collections jumped over $30,000 from the previous month to $115,212.45. Percentage-wise, Saline County witnessed a 35-percent spike in collections during January, as well as a 29-percent increase from the previous year. Similar jumps were recorded in February 2024.
