Residents who updated their response plans during Severe Weather Preparedness Week could find themselves putting them to use Friday, March 6, 2026 as the National Weather Service has much of Western Missouri under an enhanced risk of severe weather.

Meteorologist Spencer Mell tells KMMO News that a front is slated to move through the area in the overnight hours, but not before the area receives a couple rounds of showers and potentially severe weather.
.

Mell says the intensity of Friday evening’s storms could depend on how long this morning’s showers stick around.

Mell reminds residents to have their severe weather plans in place.

KMMO will provide radar coverage should severe weather develop in the area.
